EBF response on bank accounts and customer mobility

10 September 2007

The EBF issued its comments on the consultation of BAEG report on bank accounts and customer mobility underlining the importance of robust impact assessment on any further action. The FBE also believes that further empirical research on the consumers’ genuine needs in terms of mobility would be appropriate. For any further action, the FBE believes that priority should be given to market driven solutions, recognising the merits of self-regulation.

Particularly with regard to the ongoing implementation of SEPA the EBF states that it would be more appropriate to consider the issues arising from this Report after the ongoing payments work has bedded down.
