Danièle Nouy new elected chair of CEBS





Mme Danièle Nouy, Secretary General of the French Banking Commission (Commission Bancaire), has been elected Chair of the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS). She replaces José María Roldán, Director General of Banking Regulation of the Bank of Spain, who has held the post since CEBS became operational in 2004, and whose two-year term as Chair has expired. Mme Nouy served as Vice Chair during Mr. Roldán's chairmanship.

Mme Nouy has broad international experience in banking supervision. She served as Secretary General of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision from 1998 to 2003 and as Deputy Secretary General from 1996 to 1998.

Mme Nouy joined the Banque de France in 1974. She has held several senior positions at the French Banking Commission, including Head of Research and Policy Analysis, Director of Banking Supervision, and Special Deputy to the General Secretary.

Mr. Helmut Bauer, Chief Executive Director of Banking Supervision of the German Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), has taken over as Vice Chair of CEBS. Prior to joining BaFin in 2002, Mr Bauer held a senior position at the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in London.

Mr. Andrzej Reich, Director of the Supervisory Policy Division at the General Inspectorate of Banking Supervision at the Polish Central Bank, has been elected as a new member of the CEBS Bureau. Other members of the Bureau are the CEBS Chair and Vice Chair, Committee members Andreas Ittner and Kerstin af Jochnick, and Secretary General Andrea Enria.
