CESR published a draft paper on the mediation mechanism to be established amongst EU securities supervisors. The mediation mechanism should facilitate the rapid and effective resolution of disputes between securities supervisors, strengthen supervisory practices convergence at EU level, and ensure fairer implementation as well as application of EU securities legislation and
CESR Level 3 measures.
The mediation mechanism will cover cross-border disputes related to co-operation and exchange of information between securities regulators, enforcement of financial information, as well as operational disputes, especially those related to mutual recognition of decisions. This would cover all applicable EU legislation in the securities field, as well as CESR Level 3 measures.
Deadline for comments is 30 November 2005.
