On the occasion of a Parliamentary Dialogue, Arthur Doctors van Leeuwen, President of Committee of European Securities Regulators, presented the latest half-yearly report prepared by the Committee of European Securities Regulators. The Chairman underlined CESR’s commitment to a close and transparent cooperation with the European Parliament. In his statement he pointed out that the four most important issues being dealt with in the near future are those of MiFID, Clearing and Settlement, UCITS, and the further development of cooperation among regulators.
On MiFID an evaluation of areas where common approaches and operational tools could be developed will begin during the last quarter of 2005.
With regard to Clearing and Settlements Mr van Leeuwen said that CESR has not finalized its own advice yet, and will not do so until there will be a final decision by the European Commission. A full consultation on this issue will follow.
