A European Single Access Point or ESAP was outlined a priority under the
Capital Markets Union Action Plan
(see Action 1 therein) as this could significantly facilitate access to
financial and non-financial data (including but not limited to
sustainability related data) by investors in general and asset managers
in particular.
The consultation paper consists of 27 questions relating to the scope
of the ESAP, usability and accessibility, infrastructure, data
governance, and costs and benefits. We would like to draw your specific
attention to question 7, which invited market participants to share
their views on a multitude of data points disclosed under 36 financial
services legislative acts that could potentially be included in the
ESAP.
A legislative proposal on the ESAP is expected in the third quarter of 2021.
