The European Savings Banks Group (ESBG) welcomes in general the fact that the compromise amendments put forward by rapporteur Theresa Villiers as a result of numerous discussions within the EMAC, have been accepted. While several aspects of the proposed compromises leave room for improvement (e.g. the allowance for internalisers to provide for price improvement is currently too extensive), the
ESBG believes that the submitted compromises as a whole were worth supporting. These will allow to achieve a generally accepted position of the EMAC on a consistent supervisory regime for internalisation systems.
