In an article published in the Financial World, Graham Bishop argues that
MiFID gives banks an opportunity to challenge the monopolies of many stock exchanges.
“There is a choice: firms should either position themselves to benefit from an array of competing market-makers, or become a market-maker themselves, offering trading, payment and settlement all in one“, Graham Bishop says. “It would be a serious strategic error to dismiss casually the potential implications of MiFID”, he says and lines out different scenarios.
