CESR released its timetable on the review the role of Credit Rating Agencies.
CESR will gather additional data in this year’s report and provide its views about the following areas of the structured finance market:
- Transparency of Credit Rating Agencies (CRAs) rating methodologies;
- Human resources allocated to rating and monitoring;
- Periodic monitoring of the ratings and timeliness of rating actions;
- Potential conflicts of interest (i.e. remuneration structures of CRAs).
CESR will provide in its report some conclusions whether it would be more appropriate to to move towards some kind of regulation in this area.
CESR timetable:
October 2007 - January 2008 - Preparation of consultation paper
Mid February - End March 2008 - Consultation and possible hearings
April 2008 - Assessment of responses
Mid May 2008 – Final report to the Commission
