The European Economic Area Council discussed issues related to the EEA agreement and cooperation between the EU and EEA EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
The EEA Council assessed the overall functioning of the EEA agreement.
It also held an orientation debate on the single market beyond 2019.
The EEA Council adopted conclusions on:

the 25th anniversary of the EEA agreement

the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU and the EEA agreement
-
cooperation in the EEA
-
the development of the single market
-
incorporation of EEA-relevant EU acts
-
EU programmes
-
the social dimension
-
environmental protection, energy and climate change
-
the EEA and Norway Financial Mechanism
-
agricultural trade
The meeting was chaired by Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland. Pekka Haavisto, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, co-chaired the meeting, on behalf of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. On the EEA EFTA side, Ine Eriksen Søreide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, and Sabine Monauni, Ambassador of Liechtenstein to the EU, were also present.
