GFIA supports the work of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) to integrate consideration of climate risks into insurance supervisory practices. It has therefore provided a response to the related IAIS public consultation, stressing the need for close global and local cooperation between insurers and their supervisors in assessing the management and governance of climate risks.

GFIA also highlighted that the cooperation should include policymakers so that a sound international regulatory framework is created for insurers’ climate risks and a level regulatory playing field.
