A Grand Coalition with the SPD remains the obvious outcome – but obstacles ahead. Given the need for the SPD to consult their membership, the coalition-building process may be protracted.
If Germany fails to reach agreement on a Coalition after the mid-November SPD Congress, then the spill-over to the rest of the EU will begin to accumulate rapidly.
