Main Conclusions of the CEIOPS Conference 2006

CEIOPS held its second annual Conference in Frankfurt on 14 November. Lessons from the Conference discussions will be included into the work programme for 2007.

CEIOPS stated that it will continue its initiatives on the Recommendations of the EU Financial Services Committees’ ‘Report on Financial Supervision’, including the clarification of the role of the lead supervisor, delegation of tasks between home and host supervisor, and joint supervisory actions.

With regard to future Level 3 steps CEIOPS intends to issue standards on supervisory tool-kits and best practices, including common reporting, and the sharing of data.

On Pension Funds CEIOPS intends to increase its work through progressing supervisory convergence rather than full harmonization.

CEIOPS will also develop its workstreams to facilitate consumer protection where possible, particularly on long term saving products.
