EMAC established advisory panel on financial services

The European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs has established a panel of financial services experts to advise it on the measures set out in the Financial Services Action Plan. In the context of the implementation of the ’Lamfalussy report’ on securities regulation, the panel will also provide evaluations of Commission proposals for implementing measures submitted to the European Securities Committee, as well as, consultation documents issued by the Committee on European Securities Regulators.

The panel will be made up of ten independent experts with experience of working in financial markets, backgrounds in European financial services law and careers in financial services regulation. The briefings provided by the experts will serve to help parliamentarians to judge whether the objectives of the European Commission are successfully achieved by their upcoming proposals, and whether implementing measures proposed by the Commission are in accordance with the requirements set out by Parliament and Council in basic legislation.
