-The group has been established at the suggestion of the European Commission to identify priorities amongst the measures outlined in the 'Financial Services: building a Framework for Action' Communication and advise the Commission on the best operating conditions to ensure the optimal functioning of the single financial market, which is of paramount importance to develop the benefits of the introduction of the euro.
