-The ECOFIN Council of 12 February 2001 invited the Financial Services Policy Group to consider the Commission’s Communication on E-Commerce and Financial Services. Work was delegated to a sub-group which met three times. The intention underpinning the Sub-Group’s work was to assess the EU’s e-commerce policy in the field of financial services, on the basis of the strategy outlined in the Commission’s Communication and to see to what extent this strategy could be backed by Member States.
