Financial Times: Survey finds 48% of Brits support referendum on final Brexit deal


The Survation survey of 1,022 adults found almost half of respondents support a referendum on the final agreement to leave the bloc with 25% opposed to such a vote.

When asked about a soft or hard Brexit, 43 per cent of those surveyed favoured a ‘soft’ Brexit while 37 per cent expressed a preference for a ‘hard’ exit from the EU. Leave voters were more supportive of a hard Brexit, with 67 per cent in favour while the same percentage of Remain voters preferred a soft Brexit.

However, 47 per cent of respondents said leaving the EU without a mutually agreed deal on the Brexit terms would be bad for the UK against 32 per cent who viewed such an outcome as positive.

There was a slim difference over expectations for a “Brexit dividend” — the widely disputed notion of extra money that the UK save after EU membership — with 40 per cent of people expecting this to materialise and 37 per cent believing there will be no such boost to the government’s coffers. Of Leave voters, 62 per cent believe there will be a Brexit dividend while 59 per cent of Remain voters dismissed the possibility. [...]
