Summary of comments on EP seminar on Financial Crisis

EP ALDE and the PSE goups organised a joint seminar on possible systemic risks resulting from the financial crisis reflecting on the ECON own-initiative report on the "Lamfalussy follow-up". 

The political EP groups of ALDE and the PSE organised a joint seminar on the possible systemic risks resulting from the financial crisis and reflected on the ECON own-initiative report on the “Lamfalussy follow-up: future structure of supervision” by co-Rapporteurs Ieke van den Burg and Daniel Daianu.

 

Disputing Ackerman of Deutsche Bank’s celebrated comments, the market will heal itself, Graham Bishop says, but perhaps only up to a point. So a wise response by the public authorities should build on this natural evolution – and perhaps push it further. Open and competitive financial markets remain essential to channel the rising tide of aging Europeans’ retirement savings into productive investments around the globe.
