SEC proposals to reduce reliance on CRAs

The SEC published for comment the three sets of recommendations to the use in its rules and forms of credit ratings as adopted in June that would reduce undue reliance on credit ratings.

The SEC published, for comment, the three sets of recommendations to the use in its rules and forms of credit ratings as adopted in June. The Commission reviewed the requirements in its rules and forms that rely on credit ratings concluding that such references can be removed or revised.

 

The SEC's proposal would reduce undue reliance on credit ratings and result in improvements in the analysis that underlies investment decisions.

 

Deadline for comment is 5 September 2008.
