Commission Consultation on Responsible Lending and Borrowing in the EU

Certain of the topics being addressed, such as information, conduct of business and the role of intermediaries, are consistent with those in the recent Commission Communication on Packaged Retail Investment Products.

The consultation seeks to analyse certain outstanding issues with regard to responsible lending and borrowing. Certain of the topics being addressed, such as information, conduct of business and the role of intermediaries, are consistent with those that were addressed in the recent Communication from the Commission on Packaged Retail Investment Products. Also, the recent Commission Recommendation on remuneration policies in the financial services sector seeks to address excessive risk-taking by financial services employees.

 

Deadline for responses is 31 August 2009.
