European Liberal Forum: Banking Union: imminent crisis and possible solutions

The Banking Union is an essential pillar of the Economic and Monetary Union. However, it is still not completed and not as resilient and weather-proof as one would wish.

In this ELF Discussion Paper, two distinguished authors analyse the imminent crisis and possible solutions: Giuseppe Russo proposes to prevent banking crises at the micro-level through the use of predictive systems that employ artificial intelligence while Graham Bishop analyses the proposals to counter the current crisis, arguing for a temporary Eurobill Fund and the capitalisation of banks.
