Belgian Presidency published latest compromise text on AIFMD
06 October 2010
The third country passport issue is still unresolved. MEP Gauzes stressed that the Belgian presidency is devoting this week to trying to find a compromise. He is optimistic and said that it is still possible to reach an agreement before mid-October.
Speaking today in a press conference, rapporteur Jean Paul Gauzès said that an agreement on the private equity issues had been reached.
The European Parliament is going to propose a new draft on third country passport issues based on what has already been negotiated with the Belgian Presidency. He hopes that in the next two days he will be able to present this draft to his colleagues. In case there is no agreement in view by mid-October, the plenary vote will be postponed until November.
