FESE: REMIT Review: Market access barriers for third country firms

Regulation of Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT).. we are strongly convinced that it is disproportionate to require third country firms to declare an office in the EU from which they carry out their principal activities, as proposed by the European Parliament..

FESE and several other trade associations have sent a briefing to negotiators of the REMIT Review legislation with respect to the requirement under Article 9 and the supervision of third-country firms. In the briefing, the trade associations caution against establishing market access barriers for third-country firms while endorsing the approach taken in the Council General Approach. The REMIT Review is currently in the stage of inter-institutional negotiations between the Council and the European Parliament.
