Commission call for evidence on review of Investor Compensation Schemes Directive

The call for evidence is focused on the scope of the Directive, the amount of compensation, the funding of the compensation schemes, the restrictions on the carryover of unpaid reimbursement debts, and the reduction of payout delay.

The Commission launched a call for evidence on the review of the application of the Investor Compensation Schemes Directive which aims to protect investors against the risk of losses in the event of an investment firm's inability to repay money or return assets held on behalf of their clients. The Commission now wishes to gather information about the application of the Directive.

 

The call for evidence is focused on the scope of the Directive, the amount of compensation, the funding of the compensation schemes, the restrictions on the carryover of unpaid reimbursement debts, and the reduction of payout delay.

 

Deadline for consultation is 8 April 2009.
