The main debate produced a dramatic and rousing speech from Charles Kennedy (former Leader and President of the UK European Movement) that brought the entire hall instantly to its feet. The strength of conviction was so powerful that there can be no doubt that the May 2014 European Parliament election will be nothing less than a mini-referendum. The Lib Dems will go head-to-head with UKIP and make this one of the first European elections that is actually fought about 'Europe'.
