IAIS: Request for stakeholder input in first stages of development of next strategic plan
22 December 2017
The IAIS is in the early stages of crafting its next five-year strategic plan, with the current one set to conclude in 2019. As part of its commitment to broad stakeholder engagement, IAIS invited and encouraged to participate in this process by sharing thoughts and perspectives on two topics.
The first is outward looking. IAIS is seeking stakeholders’ views on macro trends and developments, within or external to the financial services/insurance sector, that may affect the IAIS and the pursuit of its mission over the next five to seven years. In identifying relevant trends and developments, IAIS asks to think broadly and to consider the following areas:
-
Social: this includes cultural aspects and demographic factors such as gender, age, ethnicity, knowledge of languages, disabilities, mobility, home ownership, employment status, religious belief or practice, culture and tradition, living standards and income level, population growth rate, age distribution, career attitudes and emphasis on safety.
-
Technological: this includes technological aspects like R&D activity, automation, technology incentives and the rate of technological change.
-
Economic: this includes economic growth, developments in financial markets, interest rates and inflation.
-
Environmental: this includes ecological and environmental aspects such as weather, climate, and climate change.
-
Political: this is about political / regulatory / governmental interventions in the economy and society, such as geopolitical developments, international and national standards and could relate for example to education, innovation, social security, healthcare and infrastructure.
Stakeholders are also invited and encouraged to submit and/or identify, any relevant studies, analyses or reports they believe would be useful to the IAIS in this effort.
Second, IAIS is seeking stakeholders’ views on what strategic objectives the IAIS should pursue in light of these trends and developments.
Submissions are welcome in any format and should be made by 20 February 2018.
