Statement Baroso on sovereign wealth funds

During his visit to Norway, president Barroso issued a statement on sovereign wealth funds. He proposed a common approach at European level, avoiding any distortion of the single market with incompatible national responses. "This EU level approach should benefit both investor and recipient countries." The Commission will bring forward proposals to address these concerns on Wednesday 27 February. These will then be discussed by EU leaders at the Spring European Council on 13-14 March.
