CEIOPS issues revised Draft Occupational Pensions Protocol

The European pension supervisory committee CEIOPS published a revised protocol on supervisory co-operation for a further round of public consultation. The decision, taken at a CEIOPS members’ meeting in Frankfurt last week, is because the newly completed protocol, which took into account comments received during an initial public consultation process, differs substantially from the original version that was published in February, CEIOPS said in a statement.

This revised Protocol provides a framework for the cooperation of competent authorities in the implementation of the Directive on the activities and supervision of institutions for occupational retirement provision (IORPs) in relation to the supervision of IORPs that operate cross- border.

It sets out the agreement between competent authorities to co-operate in the supervision of cross-border activities of IORPs.

Deadline for comments is 28 November 2005.
