EFRP calls for more time for IOPR

21 November 2007

The IOPR directive needs more time to deliver results, according to a new survey by the EFRP. “The impact of the IORP directive was judged as positive”, Chris Verhaegen said and noting that it is too early to judge the full potential of the Directive. “A review of the IORP Directive in 2008 would be counter-productive”, she continued.

“At this point in time, there are no signals in the market justifying the commencement of a review procedure”, Angel Martinez-Aldama, the EFRP chairman added. “The IORP directive must be given more time.”

EFRP sees a role for the European Commission in providing guidance where some interpretation of the directive may be required.

The survey reflects opinions of EFRP Members gathered from 20 EU Member States. The responses were received through a questionnaire complemented with one to one interviews of key persons.
