European Parliament: key jobs confirmed

The Parliament has voted at plenary to confirm key roles. Martin Schulz gets his old job back; and at least 13 veteran `hitters' from previous committee return to the new ECON. Enough for sufficient continuity in the process.

The EP has now completed its elections for its top jobs. Key points to note:

• Martin Schulz returns as President of the Parliament.
• The ECON committee is chaired by S&D Member, Roberto Gualtieri, an historian by background.
• 13 members of the previous ECON committee return, which offers some stability to the process. The former Chair, Sharon Bowles, did not seek re-election.
• Ollie Rehn is a new Member and Vice-President of the Parliament, but is not sitting on ECON.
