CEA letter to Council on E-Commerce Directive

European insurers have expressed on several occasions through various competent speakers their concerns about the principles and content of the Proposal for a Directive on Distance Marketing of consumer financial services.

Insurers consider that before proposing any future procedural stage towards final approval of the community framework for distance selling, it is imperative to make a full and up-to-date inventory of the legal system applicable to insurance transactions, and more widely those of financial services, which are concluded outside the physical presence of the parties.
