The Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Hungary, Ms Iryna Ivaschenko, today issued the following statement: “While the informal visit is not part of the official negotiations on possible precautionary financial assistance from the IMF and the EC, it will help prepare such discussions, which will start next year”.
On November 21, the IMF and the EC received a request from the Hungarian authorities for possible financial assistance. They indicated that they plan to treat as precautionary any IMF and EC support that could be made available.
