The Spanish royals arrived in the UK for their first state visit since 1986. Their trip will be indelibly marked by Brexit, as the main purpose of the visit is to transmit a message of support and solidarity to the large population of Spanish nationals in the UK.

Therefore, the Spanish government outlined three key points for Felipe VI to emphasize in his speeches. Firstly, to highlight the contribution of Spanish residents to British society. Secondly, to raise awareness of the role Spanish businesses play in the UK economy. And thirdly, to ensure that strong bilateral relations are maintained inside or outside of the EU.
