The studies warn that not only in the US but also in the UK, influential or rich individuals that own media platforms or tabloids, can easily spread misleading information around big news topics such as Brexit. According to the researchers, British readers often trust information on Brexit with out reflecting on the media source. The Sun, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, reported for instance that the Queen supported Brexit, while the Palace saw itself forced to clarify that the Queen's political position was in fact neutral.
