He also underlines that during the negotiations with the UK, Italy will not stop insisting on defending the rights of Italian citizens. While also reminding of the UK's financial obligations to the EU, Gozi finishes by saying that while managing the Brexit negotiations, the EU will nevertheless also have to look ahead and work on creating a closer link to citizens, becoming more democratic and more effective.
