EP Committee: Presentation of Report Market Abuse Directive

        -Members of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs today discussed for the first time the draft report of Robert Goebbels MEP (Socialist, Luxembourg) on the proposal for a Directive on market abuse. The 50 amendments tabled by the rapporteur are related to: 
 Clarifying the definitions of the Directive;
 Guaranteeing the freedom of the press;
 Recognising legitimate conduct;
 Encouraging transparency;
 Obligation to report market abuse;
 Encouraging the emergence of a respected regulator armed with effective sanctions.
