ICGN announce the launch of the updated second edition of ‘Governance, Stewardship and Sustainability’, written by George Dallas (Policy Director, ICGN) and Mike Lubrano (Managing Director, Valoris: Stewardship Catalysts).
As with its predecessor, the book links together key issues and current thinking around corporate governance, investor stewardship and sustainability for practitioners and academic and professional education programmes. This second edition brings the discussion up to date, referencing the seismic developments of the past three years in these interconnected fields.
This second edition aims to give the reader an understanding of the content and impact of these recent events, initiatives and innovations, including (but not limited to):
• Final ratification of the 2021 revisions to ICGN’s Global Governance Principles.
• The announcement of the formation of the International
Sustainability Standards Board at COP26 and its endorsement by key
participants.
• Consolidation among environmental, social and governance (ESG) standard setters.
• Continued fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic and, in particular,
its impact on how investors and companies think about systemic risk.
• Acceleration of mergers and acquisitions among ESG data and ratings providers.
• Intensification of the priority accorded to greenhouse gas
emissions and climate risk across the ESG performance and reporting
agenda.
• Introduction of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, the
proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, and other
major developments in the EU.
• Re-entry of the US administration into the global ESG dialogue and
concomitant efforts by US regulatory bodies to reflect this in its
capital markets and corporate regulatory frameworks.
