Commission report shows potential benefits of further integration
08 July 2005
The Commission published the second annual report on the state of integration in EU financial markets. The Financial Integration Monitor (FIM) 2005 concentrates on the integration of the New Member States and the state of integration in retail financial markets. Along with the Green Paper on Financial Services Policy, the FIM report provides input to the ongoing policy debate.
The report concludes that retail integration has been very much limited to cross-border establishment for accessing local markets. Only in a few retail areas such as savings accounts and UCITS is some direct cross-border activity taking place.
