Speech McCreevy: Making the Single Market work better for business

29 January 2008

Speaking at the Economist Conference in Brussels, Commissioner McCreevy announced the European Private Company Statute to be proposed by mid 2008.

McCreevy underlined the need to harmonize standards and rules within the EU as they can facilitate doing business across the EU. “I see harmonised rules as one of the big benefits of the Single Market”, McCreevy said. “However, rules need to be of good quality and not to impose excessive burdens on EU companies”, he added.
