Commission consultation on classifying and reporting consumer complaints

11 July 2008

The Commission is developing indicators to provide evidence on how markets perform and proposes complaints collection bodies that could adopt a common methodology.

The Commission is developing indicators to provide evidence on how markets in various sectors of the economy perform from a consumer perspective as part of the Consumer Markets Scoreboard.

Currently complaints are classified and reported in a non-homogenous manner. “A common methodology for classifying consumer complaints would improve the ability to identify problems and focus policy”, the Commission states and proposes complaints collection bodies that could adopt a common methodology.

Deadline for consultation is 3 October 2008
