Commission President Barroso, said that in the current situation of great stress and crisis for the European economy, Zapatero management was fundamental. He paid tribute to the Spanish presidency which has been very difficult and successful. Zapatero's strong commitment has been crucial.
The Socialist Group has highlighted the "great success" of the Spanish presidency. The Liberals, meanwhile, have found that, compared with "very ambitious Zapatero, the result is disappointing".
