CEBS guidelines on outsourcing

14 December 2006

CEBS published the final set of guidelines on outsourcing of credit institutions' business activities. The aim of the CEBS guidelines is to promote an approriate level of convergence in supervisory practices throughout the EU.

There is currently no harmonisation at the EU level. Different supervisory approaches have developed across the EU to address the potential risks arising from this practice. A number of European countries have, for some years, had in place formal outsourcing regimes.

The proposed guidelines are based on current supervisory and market practices and also take into account international and European developments in the field outsourcing.
