The financial pledge of €6.27 billion from Poland is in addition to previous pledges for increased contributions from the euro area of €150 billion; from Japan of US$60 billion; from Sweden of at least US$10 billion; from Norway of SDR 6 billion; and from Denmark’s Nationalbank of €5.3 billion.
Ms Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the following statement: “I warmly welcome today’s commitment by the Polish authorities to contribute €6.27 billion in additional financing to the IMF. This is part of a concerted action among important creditors to ensure the Fund has sufficient resources to tackle crises and to promote global economic stability.”
