New French Economy Minister appointed

26 August 2014

President Hollande has reshuffled his government, appointing 36 year old Emmanuel Macron as Economy and Industry Minister.

The appointment comes after the previous economy minister Arnaud Montebourg criticised the government’s economic policy. Two other ministers who have openly criticised the government’s economic policy were also removed from the cabinet – culture minister Aurélie Filippetti and education minister Benoît Hamon. They have been replaced by Fleur Pellerin and Najat Vallaud-Belkacem.
