UK Treasury: Hearing on EU and Financial Services

The UK Treasury Committee will be holding a hearing on the EU and Financial Services on Thursday 16 September. The meeting is to discuss developments in respect of existing and proposed EU legislation and activity in the field of financial services. This will include the progress of the Financial Services Action Plan, and ideas for future action identified in the May 2004 Report from the EU Financial Services Committee (FSC) on Financial Integration.

The meeting is intended to inform the House of developments in this area ahead of the proposed debate on the Financial Services Committee’s Report on Financial Integration, recommended by the House of Commons European Scrutiny Committee. Such a debate would take place in a Standing Committee, ahead of consideration of the FSC Report at an ECOFIN Council later in this year.
