New Takeover Directive Expected to Be Damp Squib

The prospect of a unified takeover law for the European Union is becoming increasingly remote, representatives of Germany's BDI industry federation and the European Parliament told Handelsblatt.
'We want fair play for all European companies. If Bolkestein can't guarantee that with his directive, he will be on the receiving end of the European Parliament's wrath once more' said European Parliament deputy Willi Rothley of Germany's Social Democratic Party.
