When shopping online, buying a new phone, or leasing a car, consumer credit is today only a click away. When affordable, credit can allow for investments in higher education, an electric car or a more energy efficient household appliance.
Conversely, where credit becomes unaffordable or provided without appropriate checks, it causes over-indebtedness and will further tighten the consumer’s budget for essential expenses
