EU consumer policy strategy 2007-2013
Parliament adopted a report on EU consumer policy strategy (2007-2013) with 438 votes in favour, 84 against and 166 abstentions.
MEPs call on the Commission to carefully assess the issue of consumer redress in the Member States, and that in respect of cross-border proceedings and possible systems of collective redress, extensive research should be carried out, drawing on experience around the world.
Parliament asks the Commission then to present, if appropriate, options for a European framework providing all consumers with effective access to the different redress mechanisms of the Member States for the settlement of cross-border complaints.
