EBF report on Better Regulation

The EBF published its assessment of Better-Regulation in the various Member states. The EBF studies the various processes put in place at national and EU levels and offers an overview of existing measures so all stakeholders can better evaluate the situation and cooperate.

The EBF compares national and EU experiences in Better Regulation in four categories:

- Simplification/reduction of the administrative burden;

- Consultation/ dialogue with stakeholders;

- Impact Assessments;

- Ex-Post Analysis.

The Report then goes on to identify gaps and space for further improvements.

The overall assessment made by the EBF is positive. It acknowledges progress made by the EU and several national governments, despite notable differences. The EBF also stresses the importance of Impact Assessments as crucial tools in the Better Regulation process, particularly at EU level, and recommends their further development.
