Following the UK election outcome, the Dutch newspaper NCR expects the Brexit negotiations to get even more complicated than they already are and suggests an increased risk of a ‘hard Brexit’.

While the EU is fully prepared to start the negotiations, the electoral results will probably lead to further delays. The negotiations were supposed to start in 10 days, but will there be a government to negotiate with? Any ‘Schadenfreude’ in Brussels about the political mess in the UK will be over soon, NRC writes, as the fear of more UK antics in the negotiations takes over. Without a clear Brexit strategy in London and the political instability, NRC expects even more anti-EU rhetoric and insistence on ‘no deal is better than a bad deal’ from the UK.
