Meanwhile, the British Retail Consortium expects tariffs of up to 22% and supermarkets are worried about fresh food rotting at border crossings. Pharmaceutical companies say that some medicines could take years to make, test and approve. In many sectors, there is also an overall worry regarding the lack of labour force. The British Hospitality Association warns of a staffing crisis, with more than 1 in 3 housekeepers and 3 in 4 waiters being EU migrants.
